Maybrook Elementary Preservation is a petition to have the Maybrook Elementary School building deemed historic to preserve it as a part of our village. Maybrook Elementary was built in 1923 for the children of the Village of Maybrook to learn. It has stood atop the hill on Broadway for over 90 years, this being the first it has not welcomed students into it's doors to learn. We would like to have this building deemed historic to preserve it for the village residents and future generations. For many village residents many generations have attended the school, and we would like the building preserved so that it remains a part of our village history. Preservation has many benefits, including tax breaks and the ability to access grants and monies for building repairs. FACT: Buildings under the auspices of local, county, state or federal historic preservation status have the following going for them.NYS is a home rule state, so the strongest protection of the Elementary school will come from the local village historic status. Then the Town then the county and so on. Second, any non-residential historic building is eligible for a tax reduction and tax rebate of sorts for any exterior maintenance or historic restoration work. Please join us by showing your love for Maybrook Elementary and sign the petition to make our school a part of the rich history of Orange County. Thank you for your support!

The Village Board can no longer hide from the fact that this community refuses to let them demolish our history. This momentum proves they are on the wrong side of the people who actually live here.

It is vital we make our beloved Maybrook Elementary School building an historic landmark. With such status the building remains intact and remains an important part of our community history..I urge my fellow residents to sign the petition to give us the clout needed to bestow historic status upon our most cherished school building....

KEEP IT STANDING!!! My father went to school there in the 40s and it should stay just like it is.

Too many buildings getting knocked down lately. Save the school before it gets turned into another ugly parking lot.

My kids went there and so did the grandkids. Please dont tear down a piece of our town history. Leave the building alone.
