Something needs to be done to control the coyote population on Sullivan's and Isle of Palms. As a resident of IOP I fear for the safety of my pets and overall safety after dark.

Our family dog of 6 years, a Papillon named Ziggy, was killed in the exact same manner in Wild Dunes in April 2015. We need to cull these monsters.

Yes. They have signs on Sullivan's island and IOP with how to coexist with coyotes info. It's on their website also. They apparently have several traps on Sullivan's, but so far have had little success. They are immediately euthanized when they are caught, but research suggests that when aggressively controlled, coyotes can increase their reproductive rate by breeding at an earlier age and having larger litters, with a higher survival rate among young. So it's kind of a catch 22. I think relocation should be considered.

So very sorry for the horrible loss of Matey. Something must be done. I live on IOP and have a small chihuahua mix. I have not let him out alone at night since about a year ago when the coyote sightings became more frequent. We actually saw one in the yard two nights ago....if my dog had not been leashed, I'm sure he would be a statistic also. I now truly fear for his safety, and other dogs in the neighborhood. Even leashed I don't think he would stand a chance against a pack. This is terrifying.

We know several people who have had animals killed. We have seen the coyotes in our neighborhood. They need to be relocated in a rural area. People cannot coexist with wild predators.

This is awful! It is happening more and more on Isle of Palms as well. I don't even feel comfortable anymore when my mother goes out walking at night. Our cat disappeared this summer and rarely was ever outside. We have "animal control" to "control animals". We are required to have animals vaccinated against rabies. This is just wrong.

Coyotes are walking around in broad daylight on Sullivans and Isle of palms, my cat was killed right in my front yard in the light of day. I've lost track of the amount of cats I've heard of being killed and I now know of three dogs, what's next our children? Something has to be done!

We don't allow other dangerous wild life to roam freely through our neighborhoods. Children and elderly people have no defense against these creatures. Our dogs are required to be on a leash and under control. I have lost a family pet, and been scared on my nightly walk by these creatures. Time for action.
