MASL announces a goalkeeper possession rule change to enhance the pace of play. This rule change will have the total opposite effect on the game of indoor soccer. The pace and style of play will be negatively effected by this change and will penalize teams who want to posses the ball and utilize their goalkeepers who are skilled with their feet. Reaching this level of support confirms that I am not alone in my frustration regarding how these changes damage the game. It has been an exhausting road to get this message across but seeing this movement grow keeps me going.

Hinders abilities of goalkeepers who have good feet and passing skills The new rule change is a bit overkill and the game is meant to showcase keepers legs as well as there save abilities!!
As a goal keeper, this rule takes away the entire reason I preferred indoor to outdoor or futsal.
I have already suffered through a pass back rule in the NPSL that once the ball is played out of the team's defensive end. You couldn't pass it back over the yellow line. It sucked as a rule...

This makes no sense based on the stated reason that it is to improve pace of play. The league is either overreacting to season which saw offense drop off due to a number of pandemic related incidents or just pulling rules out of their ass. 13 goals per game under a normal season is not too slow.
