My son has been a Civil Air Patrol cadet with Maryknoll since 7th grade and loves being a part of this program. He chose this as one of his high school courses so that he can build his curriculum vitae as it aligns with the career path he wants to pursue. This program that teaches him leadership, citizenship, service and so much more is what really lights his fire. He wears his uniform proudly, and we are so proud of him that he found something that excites him and challenges him to do more. He is driven to make the most of his experience with CAP. And we don’t want that drive to stop. He is a junior in high school and has already devoted so much time and effort to CAP. Please don’t take CAP out of Maryknoll’s curriculum.

I am a proud parent of a Maryknoll alum. I was also an employee of Maryknoll when the program first started. I am also a Senior member of the program still today. It is a great program and at Maryknoll the Teachers have worked hard to make the program a success. In the World we live in today this program offers great leadership skills, discipline skills, and helps the students focus on challenges we face as adults and as American Citizens. Please keep this program at Maryknoll.

My son is a sophomore at Maryknoll in his first year in CAP. The CAP program has been an unexpected blessing providing him with insight into service to his country and the principles of leadership. The fact that he can combine CAP with his school activities increases the esprit de corps he feels and provides a sense of belonging to the larger community. Beyond the 3 hour drills on Friday afternoons, the classes during the weekday instruction have been a significant motivational factor. We need to retain programs like this at our school - our children deserve this opportunity and our nation will depend on the values this program provides.

Please do not penalize the students that are in the current program especially the seniors.. CAP is a great program, my son was in for 4 years and have taught him self discipline, confidence and leadership. Thank you.

I have always loved Civil Air Patrol, and have taken joy into going to the meetings on Fridays. The meeting times were so convenient and the classes at school were informative and interesting. I have been a CAP cadet at Maryknoll Squadron for 4 years. It has guided me through leadership, discipline and focus challenges. I have to say it has made me the person I am today. Please consider keeping Maryknoll's CAP program and courses as they are.

I am a Maryknoll alum and was so proud my son also decided to attend Maryknoll. Although he was not a member of CAP, I know how valuable this program is to our students. It adds another way for our students to explore and to learn. Please keep CAP at Maryknoll.

This CAP program is a beneficial program for the future of my son who is interested in becoming a pilot and joining the U.S. Air Force to follow in his Father’s footsteps. Maryknoll School’s CAP program is the main reason our family had chosen for our son to attend this fine school.

This program has so much to offer students. The program teaches them values like integrity and respect and the importance of service. I was so happy that my son decided to participate in CAP because of their values and training. Please don't let this important program end.

The CAP program was the deciding factor for us choosing Maryknoll over other CAP programs. We have made a significant lifestyle adjustment and financial commitment because of the program and how it was run. The in-house program is well known as the best around and the convenience of it being in-house makes all of our lives easier. We could probably adjust, but many students couldn't and that is unfair to students and families who have put in a considerable investment in the Maryknoll program. In addition, without the in-house program the likelihood of future classes joining in the numbers we have today is unlikely, which hurts the students who never join, as well as the school itself, as the cadets are a visible and positive presence on campus. The Maryknoll program model should be the model for all programs to emulate. In my 26 years in the Air Force I can think of few decisions that affect so many lives made with such haste and secrecy. Do not move the program. At a minimum it needs to stay for the entirety of the freshman class that joined Maryknoll due to the strength of the CAP program.

Ever since the beginning of CAP, Maryknoll’s squadron has been a model of success, changing the lives of its cadets and making a difference in the community. Cadets are taught how to be responsible and disciplined leaders. Integrating the CAP Program with Maryknoll’s curriculum allows the students to receive credit that lets them graduate. This is one of the reasons why many students choose to do CAP. Another reason is that Friday meetings are held at Maryknoll from 3-6 pm after school which makes it convenient for full-time student cadets and working parents. During these meetings, cadets are given the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and learn how to become better citizens of the United States.
With the changes that are to about to occur to the squadron, meetings may be held at a different location from 6-9 pm. This is an additional task for the parents who have been working all week to drive late at night. This is also inconvenient for the cadets themselves--especially those who live far away--because not only will they arrive home late, they will also be deprived of the proper amount of sleep that will help them focus and do well in school. Changing the meeting place and time will also negatively affect CAP cadets that do other extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, etc.) outside of school and CAP.
Another effect is the fact that the changes involve the likelihood of removing CAP from the Maryknoll curriculum should the meetings be moved outside of Maryknoll school. This will not only impact students’ transcripts but will also increase the amount of stress already on students and their parents as they try to figure out alternatives.
Many parents and senior cadets feel that if the changes by the Wing Commander are implemented, Maryknoll School cadet participation and membership will decrease. This will negatively affect the school, and the CAP program.
We strongly suggest that Maryknoll’s CAP program and activities continue at Maryknoll S

I was so exited to be in cap because this was a new experience for me. My dad who passed away was in the Air Force. I thought this would be a good way to learn about the military. please don’t take away this program from maryknoll.
