Maryknoll Civil Air Patrol Squadron Changes Without Transparency

Taking away the program from the students is a poor example of leadership. It deters the entire focus and intent of Civil Air Patrol and sends the wrong message to all of the members who are affected by this absurd situation.

Please keep the program.

I wish we had these programs offered at my high school.

I have been in Civil Air Patrol for about 4 years now at Maryknoll High School with the squadron, and everything that I have learned or we learned and everything we have done together has brought us together, kind of like a family. We have done so much as a squadron and have grown as one too, but also everything about it I have loved, with all the friendships, learning, educational tips from cadet officers and even the senior members, and training. What I am getting at is that everyone at this squadron loves it and not just the parents but us the Cadets too and if this changes then its like taking everything from us for no reason and no response.

Hearing that the CAP program at Maryknoll could potentially be cut is outrageous. It is very necessary and has become an integral part of the Maryknoll experience. Removing the program would result in Maryknoll losing lots of publicity as well as negatively impact dozens of students. Kū Kiaʻi CAP!

Please keep the program!

The Civil Air Patrol at Maryknoll has been an outstanding program helping young men and women become better citizens and shaping them as future leaders of our community/nation. It has been very beneficial for my son. A program like this is needed in today’s society. Please consider putting a hold on implementing any changes until the school year is complete and all parties affected can have input.

School Programs that nurture leadership and service with a purpose has to be available to our young people. Keep CAP for the sake of our children’s future. ‼️‼️‼️

Hearing that the Civil Air Patrol Commander has initiated changes to Maryknoll Civil Air Patrol Program is baffling. Maryknoll’s CAP Program is highly recognized and respected. Hearing that the School President did not get a personal call, was not part of the discussions and the decision making, nor get a response to specific questions sent via email into the ordered changes, tends to make me think that the Commander’s orders is ignorant and irresponsible. I understand change is important to growth, but blindly ordering these changes without proper communication and full understanding of the negative and detrimental effects they have on this program and more importantly on the participants and families, leads me to have no faith in this Commander and possibly other CAP Leaders involved in the decision. The Civil Air Patrol is to prepare young men and women to become better citizens and future leaders of our communities. My son has made life changing decisions based on the Schools Curriculum and Program. I would like to see a full investigation by the Investigative General into this fiasco and to put a stay on the Commanders decision immediately at least until the school year is completed.

I have been a part of the Maryknoll Squadron for four years now and one of the qualities that make it so unique is the in school curriculum that we recieve. This allows us to explore in depth about how to become better leaders and to apply our learning to real world situations. I could not ask for better leadership for this squadron. I respect and appreciate their mentorship that they have shown, not only to me, but also my fellow cadets over the past four years. I see no reason why the leadership should be changed and Maryknoll removed from the civil air patrol program. A change in command would be detrimental to the Maryknoll Squadron program and all the cadets involved. Please consider keeping the Maryknoll squadron and leadership as is. We have received effective ratings and do not understand the need for such a drastic change.

My daughter has benefited greatly from the fine outstanding Civil Air Patrol (CAP). The program has recently has received accreditation of Effective. It is incomprehensible that in mid-term that the Wing Commander would institute such a drastic change in leadership and operations without any warning or information of why such changes are being made. With such a recent positive rating for the Maryknoll CAP program the only acceptable thing that should be done at this time is to intact a stay of the drastic proposed reorganization Command on Program. This will allow the Cadets continue and finish the program in session now and allow the Wing Commander to be open and transparent and provide information to Cadets, Maryknoll Faculty and Parents of the Cadets of why such drastic measures are required. The parents have not been informed by the wing commander why such measures are being taken in mid-session.

My daughter has been a Civil Air Patrol cadet with Maryknoll since the 8th grade. This program has developed her confidence and leadership skills. She has great respect for the leadership of this program. This program has inspired her to take on challenges and strive for excellence in all she does . She loves this program. The benefits of having in school curriculum at Maryknoll provides the cadets invaluable learning opportunities. Please keep the Maryknoll CAP program.

Transparency is the best disinfectant to ensure that everything is being done on the up and up! Please give parents the insight they need to make informed decisions for their kids.

The Maryknoll cap program is great. It teaches students essential skills that will greatly benefit them in their future careers, especially with STEM. Removing the program will be very detrimental for Maryknoll and could negatively impact the school.
