Manx Gas Tariff Changes

Now in my 80s, trying to keep warm is an issue. As an old hand at saving and economising there is little more to be done other than stay in bed to keep warm. this winter. Shame on those in charge of pricing and tariffs who earn enough to afford gas - or maybe they don;t use it?.

as you have said, my standing charges way out price my consumption of gas. Charges £28.78 Gas £19.24 We live in a council house and money is hard, I am on an old age pension. Cannot understand why we have to pay all this on connection charges and this is before the onset of winter. Really concerned.

Banded standing charges system is unfair should be the same price per unit consumed

Why, when we all have the same service fron MG do we pay different standing charges? Where is the sense in that?

Just received bill for £150.79 ex vat which when broken down £26.03 for gas used and £124.76 standing charge. Scandalous!

Only used 18 units of gas but bill was £68 so stupid. thinking of changing to oil. The MG are allowed to do this by our own MHK'S

My gas usage was was £20 and the standing charge was £35 it is disgusting

The standing charges are simply unfair. It is crazy that 7 residents on one Street can all pay a different standing charge.

Eventually Manx Gas's business will become sidelined once Heat Pump technology is affordable to the masses. In the mean time Manx Gas should be forced to introduce prepayment token Meters for those that prefer it.

Disgraceful. We can't even opt for a different kind of heating as we're in a Commissioners' property. We're skint as it is, so use as little as possible.

The banding increases are completely unfair. What is also unfair is the failings of Manx Gas to explain to their customers how each one falls into each band. My own viewpoint is that because wholesale prices have dropped Manx Gas had no other option than to reduce the price of retail gas to their customers. I can see that because of the 2P unit price drop there won't be initially a huge increase in bill prices. However once Manx Gas get greedy again and they put the 2P back on ,then the increases will be horrifying. Manx Gas have in my opinion used the excuse of increasing costs of transportation of has through the network as an excuse, but sadly is it average families with babies and young children that will have been hit with the highest increases. I say that because we have had two children in the last four years and because our gas useage was high to maintain temperature for young babies we have been hit now with Band E. It's even worse for the family next door as they are hit with band F. E is 400%+ increase and F 500%+ increase. BTW our Chief Minister does not see and issue. Considering though he earns 500% more than me and will have a huge pension pot when he retires I'm sure he will stay lovely and warm. Incidentally didn't the Isle of Man taxpayer contribute £25,000,000 towards the natural gas pipeline? Maybe I've made that up? Maybe I've made this whole thing up? It all certainly sounds unbelievable to everyone apart from OFT, Alan Bell and Manx Gas.......naturally.....we will rip you off.

I think that it is about time the Island did an energy deal with Russia. Lots of gas there.
