My dad was a fire officer there in the 1930's and 40's. He lived in the building with my sister. Its so sad that this beautiful building should be left to decay. Rather than throw up cheap and nasty new builds, the money should be spent on renovating this building and put to good use.

Why are we so surprised by the London centric cabals of Britannia and Eric Pickles masters at Tory HQ especially when it involves the hated Labour heartlands of the North. Are you suspicious of Britannia's motives, does listed mean "safe" No it certainly does not, it's not unheard of that the demolition people move in claiming ignorance of a listed building.

This fine building has been neglected for too long by its owners and action needs to be taken urgently to secure its future.

My Grandad served at this station back in the 1930s and during WWII and my husband did his basic training here in 1977 and had his passing out parade here too. This is a wonderful building, full of character and history. It needs preserving as a major architectural representation of the history of Manchester!!

Pathetic! that a fine building is left to rot by the current negligent owners who seem incapable of redeveloping and maintaining London Road Fire Station.

I have lived in manchester for 6 years and the fire station -even in its current state is one of my favourite buildings. A jewel in manchesters crown

Total disgrace that such a fine building is allowed to rot. Allow the CPO of this building and cause its regeneration as per the City's Core Strategy and NPPF guidelines.

Forty years since I left Manchester. Returned for a visit last week and was appalled to see the state of the fire station. This is such a fine building and should be saved.
