The school should work together with the parents and so compassionate in this difficult period. To apply for the wage subsidy and then not offer any assistance or reimbursement to parents - senior management is this the right thing to do?

Support ! I have been asking parents around me who’s kids are studying at other international schools in HK and all of them have received financial help from their schools , either a reduction on school levy , a reduction on tuition fees , or a one off refund on an amount . I’ m disappointed with Malvern who offered no reduction on school fees at all . I tried to apply for bursaries and I found it really difficult to complete the application form due to the depth that the school wants to know about one’s family’s income and expenses . I hope by signing this petition can help and we voice out together during this difficult time .

We fully support this petition and request engagement from the school leadership, including the Board of Directors (College Council) and CEO. We have been very disappointed not to receive an opportunity for a respectful dialogue on this matter, given parents are stakeholders too. Many international schools' Directors and Management have extended their support to parents through direct messages, online or virtual parent meetings, etc. In terms of learning, the online learning in prep school, in particular the contact time with teachers, has been extremely below expectation. We have had to supplement our child's education on top of MCHK education, in order for our child to access learning. Subsequently, we have had more than one model of online learning from other schools and can say with 100% confidence, there are more effective ways to engage young children in online learning. Despite MCHK management requesting feedback on online learning in their newsletters, our impression is that it has been a token request, as no further improvements were made, nor the online learning experience enhanced. As a result the lack of communication, or even the will to even engage in the matter, has led us to lose our trust in the school. A gesture of goodwill in whatever form would have gone a long way. Equally, if MCHK is in financial difficulty, that is something parents as stakeholders need to understand too. To not have the full picture has been frustrating, and for the Board to not recognise the financial pressures felt by everyone has been careless. We do hope this petition will encourage the MCHK Board of Directors (College Council) to reconsider their position on this matter.

I fully support this petition and the school should address this. The school has been closed for 4 months and costs have been avoided during this period. This cost avoidance should be shared with the parents

I feel school has been run like a company with little social responsibility than an actual educator trying to better the level of education provided. As part of the Malvern family we really do need to feel that we are all in it together and shouldering the burden together. Let's hope Malvern can have a better balance between short term and long term gains. Without the governance and implementation of PTA makes daily issues a problem and frustrates parents as well. Things like appointing the school bus company, what kind of contractual rights do they have? Lack of involvement from the school with the bus company has created a situation where the bus company is harrassing and calling parents for payment and arrangement as they wish. Their power comes from the school - claiming that the school signed a contract with the bus company so we need to abide. Issues like these need to be dealt with by the school as well. Individually we have tried to reach out to the school and has not been addressed. We need your help!

The above petition states clearly and accurately my experience with the school and expresses my hope that the school will not ignore the support from the parents during the unprecedented last 5 months. We hope for a fruitful dialogue with the school management regarding a refund/discount of school fees.

Reductions in school fee should be made for both my sons.

We are pulling our children out of the school due to lack of management and capabilities. I agree wholeheartedly with the statements in the petition.

Communication with parents has been very poor - compared with other schools in HK as well as in the UK. The level of Online teaching / constructive feedback that our kids have received in the past 4mths has also been very far below our expectations. We are pulling our children out of the school. Very disappointed parents and kids have suffered with lack of learning.

We hope school would take the positive action during this difficult time .
