Malvern College HK: Requesting Reimbursement of Tuition Fee

Whilst from our experience the teaching models have been very good during this time, the financial savings made to the school through children not being in attendance during this time (no matter how small), as well as assistance provided to the government for students should be passed back to the parents in some form.

In addition to the points listed, the school should also be acknowledging in good faith as part of a one off refund, savings made on student materials that parents have had to bear... art materials, notebooks, printer toner, printer paper, pens pencils etc. These materials were not supplied by the school during this period and parents have spent money over and above school fees during school closure.

We humbly ask the school to act in accordance with a number of schools who have granted school fee reductions during this hardship period.

Please reimburse the tuition fee.

I appreciate all the efforts from the school especially from the teachers, to keep leaning ongoing. Yet I sense the board of directors care too much short term revenue than long the benefits and social responsibility. This will make the school not sustainable. Sorry that we have to do this, but I am surprised that the school does not have a PTA to discuss issues. I am also surprised that the school even wanted to increase the tuition fee next year, which is outrageous. So parents have no other options but to voice out. The operation cost for the school is down and the school got money from the government. Why not refund lunch fee and school bus fee? All those will hurt the schools reputation and social responsibility. We as parents can choose to choose school, but we did not. We choose to stay to make it better, starting from voicing out our concerns. OtherwiseI am afraid the school will ignore our voice in the future. Not very healthy.

I fully support. It's quite disappointing how Malvern has reacted over the past four months of online learning, especially for lower primary (only 15-20 causal chats on Zoom four days a week!)

We took a leap of faith in Malvern College as a new school when it first started. Through the bumpy start, we have supported Malvern College to the best that we can. Now, as we are all thrust in this unprecedented period of economic challenge, we hold the belief that as joint stakeholders, we should all work in tandem with one another; so we may all ride out the storm together, an emerge with a greater confidence in Malvern College.

I truly believe that we should stand together in front of the crisis. However, no one should take benefit from the crisis. With the reduction in cost (I.e. catering, electricity etc) and government subsidies, this should be resulted in fee reduction, which we see in other international school.

We are looking for more open communications and fair treatment from the school compared to other international schools at a time when parents had to make incredible adjustments to their life to support their child's education. Thank you.
