We are also demanding the removal of the Animal Welfare TRIAGE. The power given to vets by Animal Welfare to legally kill a healthy animal instead of saving it ! It is to be run by professional vets and qualified veterinary staff to be of service to all animals, including exotic and birds.
It is to be equipped with all the necessary state of the art medical equipment needed for treatment, tests, and operations.
The sad stories and tragic realities experienced by many pet owners who have sought medical care for their pet - Especially during the night, Sundays, or feast days. This has happened too many times ! Knowing that your beloved animal is in desperate need of urgent care, showing clear signs of distress....
However, the necessary immediacy of help can not be provided . Because a 24/7 service of an Animal Hospital in our country is non-existent ! And animals and birds continue suffering and dying !!

As a pet owner myself and many of the people I know own pets, and no 24/7 care available on the island is worrying. Apart from this an animal ambulance is needed for those who do not have a car or are not near a 24/7 operating animal hospital.
The opening of a hospital for our pets is of crucial importance. When I was losing two cats during one night I only managed to save one thanks to the APH hospital being open that night. Had it not been open both cats would have succumbed to their illness.
Rather than spending god know how many thousands on the memorial near the old animal hospital in ta qali, it would have been a better use of tax payers money to invest that same money into the refurbishment and reopening of the animal hospital
I have already shared my story on social media in November 2024 because i lost my 8yr old dog DANNY due to lack of service! Found no help at all! It was a tragic loss for us and we’re still suffering his loss :( PLEASE DO SOMETHING
Because I have 4 furbabies 2 are elderly & may need emergency assistance at anytime
As a pet owner I know how despeate in need of a pet hospital one can become especially in urgent situations. We spend so much money as a country on frivolous wasteful stuff and yet something like this is still left pending. Pets are one of the things that matter the most to us in this world and thus we should have the right to demand a pet hopsital since we do pay taxes to cover our actual needs instead of having them wasted on things we could care less about!

As my bunny suffers frequently from stasis and she usually gets it after midnight, a 24/7 hospital would be so useful, when there was one before I really appreciated it and was disappointed when it closed. I hope a new one opens again soon!
