ALLOW ACCESS TO TRAILS CLOSED TO BICYCLES

We the undersigned support the California Department of Parks and Recreation’s (CDPR) recommended Change in Use (CIU) to allow bicycles to be ridden on the Yearling and Lookout Trails in Malibu Creek State Park.  We appreciate the efforts of the Angeles District which determined through an extensive Change In Trail Use Survey that bicycles be allowed on these trails.

Mountain bicyclists requested this change of use to create off-pavement access from the Paramount Ranch area near the northwestern boundary of Malibu Creek State. This enhances bicycling opportunities and will provide better visitor circulation and a more enjoyable park experience.

Mountain bicycling is a safe, sustainable, health promoting activity that is a legitimate and appropriate use of trails in our parks.  Surveys estimate that more than 40% of trail users are bicyclists, but there is still a very small percentage of singletrack trails available to us.

We support the Change of Use Process and the decision to open these trails.

I am honestly stunned to see how many people have added their names to this effort. If we can get a few more people to look at this today we might reach that five hundred mark before the meeting. This momentum belongs entirely to the community members who care about these trails.

I am honestly a bit stunned to see that one hundred people have signed on to support opening these trails. This is entirely due to your willingness to speak up for better access. Thank you for showing me that so many others care about this as much as I do.

Ridiculous that we have so few singletrack options in the area. Open it up already.

Finally some common sense. Biking is a legit way to enjoy the park and we arent hurting anything.

About time. Tired of all the restrictions when plenty of other states handle multi use just fine.

Been waiting for this change for years. Hope they don't drag their feet on this.
