I just received word that Cadbury is changing their production process to make Wispas officially gluten free. I am honestly stunned that this happened and all of the credit belongs to you for speaking up so clearly. Please keep checking the labels because we finally achieved exactly what we hoped …
The best chocolate from the 80's is back . . . and not safe for Coeliacs!
Coeliac disease is not an allergy. It's an auto-immune disease, which means that the body produces antibodies that attack its own tissues. For people with coeliac disease this attack is triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Repeated exposure to gluten may lead to malnutrition, osteoporosis, bowel cancer and ultimately death.
Although the ingredients show no gluten Cadburys have brought the Wispa under the blanket statement of the rest of their chocolate and said that it is produced in the same area as other chocolate containing wheat and THEREFORE MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF WHEAT/GLUTEN
This is so unfair to Coeliacs. Why do other chocolate manufacturers manage but yet again Cadburys can't produce gluten free chocolate
1% of the population suffer from Coeliac disease and we deserve to be treated FAIRLY!
I have been reading through the stories you are sharing and the frustration is so clear. It is honestly humbling to see that so many others care about this as much as I do. I am looking into how we can get these concerns directly in front of the people at the factory who make the final decisions.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about this. You all are the ones driving this momentum and I am just happy to be along for the ride.

NEVER AGAIN will I buy these until they are safe. My stomach kills me for days after a tiny trace. Sort it out.

Ridiculous that they cant just separate the lines. Im tired of having to check every single label for something so simple.
