Our town has always been a place where families, studets, and working people want to live, but rising housing costs are making it harder for residents to stay in the community they love. At the same time, there is an abandoned shopping center in town that has remained unused for years, contributing ltitle to the neigborhood while, taking up valuable housing units. By transforming this neglected property into new housing units, we have an opportunity to improve the town, support local businesses, and provide more affordable housing options for current and future residents.
Building thoughtfully designed housing in this unused area would help young families, teachers, and seniors find homes they can afford without leaving Winchester. More housing can also reduce pressure on prices by increasing supply, while revitalizing an abandoned space that could otherwise continue to deteriorate. With proper planning, landscaping, and community input, this development can fit the character of the town while still making Winchester a more welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.
We encourage residents to support this proposal and help create a stronger future for our community turning an abandoned property into safe, modern housing is a practical solution that benefits both current residents and future generations. Together, we can make Winchester more vibrant, affordable, and connected.
My kids grew up in this town but they cant afford to move back here now. This is a great idea.
