Without any warning, Verizon FIOS decided not to renew its contract with The Weather Channel and dropped it from its programming. It has been replaced by AccuWeather which is at best a low-level, amateur comparison. It's like saying "I want to go to Fiji on vacation" and settling for Atlantic City (nothing against Atlantic City or New Jersey). The Weather Channel is by far superior, providing the most accurate weather information that is available from experts in the field of Meteorology such as Dr. Greg Forbes, who studied under Dr. Ted Fujita (famous for inventing the F-scale used to rate tornadoes), Tom Niziol, winter weather expert who is a 30-year forecasting veteran and previously held the position of Meteorologist-in-charge at the National Weather Service, and Jim Cantore, who has covered every major weather event in the past 25 years including Hurricanes Katrina and Irene and Superstorm Sandy. We also cannot forget to mention Al Roker, Sam Champion, Stephanie Abrams, Mike Seidel...and the list goes on. Experts all around to ensure that we are provided with the most accurate, up to the minute forecast possible. I have been watching The Weather Channel for nearly 20 years. If Verizon FIOS does not bring back The Weather Channel I will be cancelling all services I have through them (including home phone, cable, internet, cell phone, plus business accounts). Please join me and sign this petition. We pay a substantial amount to have Verizon FIOS and we should have a say in what they take away from us!
