Curious myself as to why a petition is even needed! Exactly how many accidents have occurred at this intersection, and THIS IS NECESSARY? It's extremely sad we had to lose such a BRIGHT light in this dark world, to even get a little red piece of metal on a stick!!!

I’ve seen numerous accidents and people run the stop sign. The yield sign also seems to be on the wrong side. The westbound side should yield. Also the speed limit should be lowered.

Unfortunately, I have seen many near misses due to vehicle failure to stop at the sign or to vehicles pulling out at inopportune times for the vehicle with the right of way. I have also been the vehicle which has to hit breaks hard or nearly T-bones a vehicle traveling illegally or riskily through the intersection in question. It's time for a traffic light.

Grew up in Surry County in the '70s and '80s, that intersection was always a menace. I can't believe there still hasn't been anything done to make it less dangerous!

Having worked in Surry as a Law Enforcement Officer for many years now, I have responded to many accidents at this intersection. I have also witnessed many people not stop for the stop sign there and our deputies issuing traffic tickets for this. The needed precautions should be taken by VDOT to stop these deadly accidents from occurring.
