Make the DC Promise Act Fair

Tell the DC City Council thatALLDC Taxpayers Deserve DC’s Promise Scholarship for their Children
We, the undersigned DC taxpayers and citizens, believe that it is unfair to punish parents who choose a private school or homeschool for their children.
The DC Promise Establishment Act, proposed by DC Education Committee Chairman David Catania in October 2013, offers up to $100,000 for DCPS and DC public charter school graduates to attend college.
This excludes several thousand children who are homeschooled or who attend private, independent, and faith-based schools. Low-income children and children with disabilities who attend private schools are hit particularly hard.
Parents make tough decisions to select a school that best fits their child's academic, social, and emotional needs. No tax-paying citizen should be punished for making a choice on behalf of their child.
We, the undersigned respectfully request that the DC City Council amend the DC Promise Establishment Act to allowALLDC students to apply.
The DC City Council will had a hearing on this bill on November 13th -- please sign this petition asking for fair treatment for ALL DC students so that we can present the signatures for the record.
