As an alumni, I am saddened to see the direction St. Joseph's College is taking. This college was a welcoming community that fostered student involvement and growth. That welcoming atmosphere is one of the reasons students choose to attend. Over the last couple of years, the focus has shifted away from the current students and toward campus appearance, alumni events and the centennial celebration. Campus beautification including the quad and the student lounge is a great idea. However, what good is it if the STUDENTS can't hold events on the quad or relax in the lounge? College wide events have decreased over the last couple of years and student attendance (at the events still held) has plummeted. Administration needs to recreate the welcoming community, decrease all the rigid rules and let these college students have a fun, positive, learning experience inside and outside the classroom!

Rose Mary Howell is the worst thing that has happened to SJC and its because they are no concerned anymore with building a community with the students. I personally have watched her demean students and staff members. I choose to voice my concerns before but nothing was done. Why am I paying to go to an institution that doesn't care that I am offended by there vice president of student Life. It is her job to make it a welcoming space. It is her job to provide a community that is inclusive but she fails across the board. When mentioning SJC I follow it with its not worth attending if your looking to be accepted because the tone is set from the top then down.. Rose Mary Howell is a CANCER to the community.

Sad to see this happening so many years after graduation. Changes need to be made for a college that takes in so much $$ and does nothing for the students. I am grateful for my undergrad education but SJC is on a slow downhill spiral and I'm glad all students are finally taking a stand

This place sucks now... students are extremely cliquey and the signs in the cafeteria are extremely ridiculous. The only reason I go back is the motivation of my college graduation being a day sooner. I'm getting a good education. But I don't pay 10,000 dollars to be treated like a child. Graduation can't come sooner. But if these problems are fixed I guess it would make my experience a better one

As someone who is in their senior year, I am sad to see these types of changes being implemented on campus. In my first three years at SJC, I was never told how I should behave, yet I have not once broken the code of conduct. I hope that the school realizes this is not in the best interest of its students.

As an alumnae this is very disheartening to hear. This was my second home when I attended. I understand not all the schools staff is making these changes and it is more like one person pressing certain issues, but it's taking away from our small community.

It's honestly a shame what Sjc has turned into. The school has been making it less desirable for people to stay on campus. So people just go to class and home without spending time talking and experiencing all Sjc

The current administration has their head so deep in the sand that it is pathetic. I hope for the eventual resignation of Dr. Calereso, who has done nothing but turn our small school into a robotic shell of what it used to be. A true shame for all and the purpose of this petition is just the tip of the iceberg.

As an alumna, it is so disheartening to see a place that used to feel like home to me no longer be the case for many students today. So glad to see action being taken to address these issues that many of the SJC students are not happy with!

Having these ottomans taken away was a complete violation of our rights, and completely unnecessary. In addition, putting those signs up was rude, and diminishes our value as students. Being a commuter school, we should have the right to have the comfort of our "home away from home," and we can no longer have that anymore. I am signing this petition to have those signs removed, and get our ottomans back. Ottomans' purpose is to use as a footrest. In addition, the chairs are uncomfortable to begin with in the cafeteria, and now the fact that we can't lean on the tables makes no sense, and will just cause more discomfort. We want St. Joseph's to go back to the amazing features it had before this all happened. Thank you.
