In the past few years living in Loyal Heights area, we've had our cars broken into three times. On a visit last Saturday 12/12, we saw three cars with their drivers window shattered. We should not have to simply accept this is the "new normal". We need help. It increases in frequency and will get worse. Please file police reports when this happens to you. Yes, it's inconvenient when you're already facing a bigger inconvenience of a broken window at 7AM on a Monday, but if you don't report it, it doesn't accurately reflect the current state of activity.

Please consider the content of this petition. The crime, trash, and illegal activity have increased greatly in Ballard. If it doesn't change for the better, it isn't worth living here.

You are on your own, when it comes to protection. When got we had a burglary at our house on 42nd St with ADT, it took the cops 2.5 hours to get there. I am not impressed. In the West precinct from midnight to 8 in the morning there are 11 officers. I for Magnolia and 1 for Queen Anne.

We lived in Ballard for 25 years, what is happening to the area is horrible. I still have a P.O. Box at the Ballard Post Office and it's just frightening to go there. Stop overbuilding the area and attracting so many criminals to the area by allowing them to take over the parks and sidewalks. The more homes that are removed for transient populations, the less people who really care what happens in the area. Bring back the true meaning of neighborhood!

As a resident of Ballard until 16 years ago, this change is alarming and I worry for my former neighbors. Please do what is needed to help!

I've experienced 3 property crimes in the last 10 years. We needed improved action.

This is what happens when you vote for socialist lunatics and an idiot of a Mayor (remember the Senator pushing for the tunnel?) into city leadership. Mike O'Brien covering the Ballard district just got voted back into office. So stop complaining, throw the bums out next time.

I live in Ballard, my car was broken into last month, during the night. I don't jog as much as I used to because I don't feel as safe. It's now common for me to pass people (vagrant-looking) who make derogatory/threatening comments to me as I pass. It's sad, because I used to feel safe in Ballard.

There are going to be some politicians out of work unless this issue is dealt with. It is unconscionable that Seattle police take hours to respond to 911 calls of a crime in progress.

As a victim of burglary in Ballard, and knowing personally at least 2 others who have been burgled in the past 6 months, this needs to stop.

Ballard is a mess. I appreciate the Nyer Urness house and the upcoming urban rest stop. But the people who make this neighborhood frightening to walk through are people that will not be allowed in those two community assistance places that I mentioned. Screaming drunks and drug-addicted wanderers, stolen property off front porches, out in broad daylight drug deals. We need help City of Seattle and Mayor's Office. Please help.

We've increased density, developers are making bank, and city is reaping increased taxes, but what about needs of the people who live and work here? Every day I read about people in the neighborhood who have gotten their cars and homes broken into. Sometimes when they are even at home! It is only a matter of time before a real tragedy occurs.

It appears that there is almost no law enforcement of nonviolent crime in our neighborhood. People are going to have to begin taking the law into their own hands if the legal system does not effectively enforce property crime in our neighborhoods.
