I do not need the motivation of a requirement to recycle my organics. If I choose to recycle my organic material, I will do so without forcing the rest of the community to follow my lead “for the common good.”

We need to recycle items that do not biodegrade, not organics. Composting is what the city should incentivize (I already compost), rather than requiring all to pay for service on yet another large container and to find premium space for it inside the garage where its contents will rot and become smelly.

Sr neighbor here, been composting forever, do not want another trash bin that wouldn't even have a small bag full over several months. City please keep your bin.

Maybe l’ve been living under a rock, but this is the first that I’ve heard of this city-wide program AND that it will be mandatory. As one on a budget, the annual cost is one I don’t need. I would prefer that the city leaders make it an optional program; it would be encouraging residents to be more eco-friendly without requiring additional fees. City leaders need to be mindful that those “little” monthly fees add up quickly to larger annual fees, which impact those on budgets. Does this type of decision contribute toward the city’s initiative of developing a favorable “affordable housing” environment?

We don't need another big trash can. We already have 3, so that would make 4. We were never asked if we wanted organic recycling and we don't want to pay for it. It should be optional.

have composted my organics for years. will have nothing to put in the container each week but a few kleenex, some dove bar sticks, and an occasional chicken bone...almost forgot, and toenails once a month.

If I have to pay for this mandatory effort so be it. I can afford the $5.50. However I will not be participating in this program. My problem is with an additional cart. I will find some way to dispose of the cart if the city dares to drop one off at my home. I park 2 cars in the garage and cannot fit a 3rd cart. I have 2 yard waste carts as well. Edina dropped the city ordinance about all the carts being out of view recently. Many residents keep their trash and regular recycling carts in front of their homes and even near front door. It’s very detracting and another cart will make matters worse.

We do not want this service nor do we need to pay for it. No room for another container. Could be very distractive in the yard -insects, mice, rats and unwanted smells. Governmental over reach.

Residents of Edina already have the option to seek out an organics recycling company and pay for the service on their own, this move by Edina and the city council is completely unnecessary. If the city of Edina wants an organics recycling program, the city of Edina can pay for it. I do not want the can, do not want the $5.50 monthly charge, and do not want to participate!

Please stop this mandatory nonsense. Cost of program vs results. Just another taxable service implemented by the city to strangle citizens with more government interference into daily life.
