I was devastated to see the state of littering across Mongolia as I travelled from UB to Khovsgol. And of course, I was heartbroken by the amount of rubbish building up along the shore of Khovsgol Nuur itself. I was told that the National Park staff are working tirelessly to educate locals about the detrimental effects of the materials that are littered carelessly at rapidly increasing rates. But there needs to be action on a legislative level if there's going to be any chance for these efforts to be sustained.
