Absolutely the right man for the job. He has dedicated his life to the Greenville City Police Department and the community in which he serves. Since Deputy Chief Thompson took over the Greenville City Department, the GPD has continued to run flawlessly. Deputy Chief Thompson has been tasked with major events such as “864” take over, a SLED investigations into the department, officer involved shooting, murder investigations and now several protest downtown. Deputy Chief Thompson has excelled in each of these events keeping the community safe, businesses from being destroyed and people brought to justice. Deputy Chief Thompson is respected by his fellow employees and it is truly an honor to work for such a dedicated Chief!

Howie is an accomplished professional and a kind individual. Those of us who have businesses downtown are extremely happy with him- much more happy than with the previous chiefs of police. You would be doing the city a great service by allowing him to remain chief of police.

It is time to bring the Chiefs position back home. Howie has more than proved himself capable. As City of Greenville policy stands now, no matter how long, how well trained, no matter how loyal they are to the citizens and the City of Greenville, they will never be good enough to rise through the ranks and make Chief. Would you want to work for an organization that tell you your not good enough?
