Service animals are crucial for those in need of them. But people don't seem to realize the harm they do by passing off their untrained family pet as a service animal. Please support this law.

Training/raising a real guide dog has become harder because of fake service dogs.

Dear friends, The importance and value of service animals to those who need their help and companionship cannot be overstated. The integrity of this program is of paramount importance to its success. Let us all join together to ensure that this inegrity can never be questioned!

In 1982, I began a 13-year partnership with a Hearing Ear Dog trained by NEADS and began taking her to stores, restaurants and other public places. In those early days, it was more difficult to explain her legal rights to be with me at all times, but I cheerfully and willingly did so. I was proud to show her ID card with her picture and mine, and even prouder to explain her training and what she did for me. It has been distressful to see "fake service animals" become the norm because those untrained and sometimes dangerous dogs and their owners give legally trained service dogs a bad name. I am happy to sign this petition, even though I reside in NH. I worked with bills in NH all t hose long years ago, to ensure that fake service animals would not gain a foothold. Those laws, and laws in other states did not go far enough. It's time to introduce new bills which will work better.

My comments would take up pages! Fake service dog owners need to at the very least get reported and charged hefty fines. These obnoxious dogs and their owners need consequences for doing something that should be illegal. I live in FLorida, and it's against the law here, to have a fake service dog.

Service animals are a lifeline to folks. There needs to be something in place for those who put actual service animals and their owners at risk

Absolutely needed to protect the rights of those with legitimate service dogs.

I believe this should be a fine for penalty and community service but not jail or criminal courts.

Last month at BJ'S woman had her dog in the shopping cart and the clerk was helping the woman load her things. The dog barked and snapped at her. The dog owner seemed upset at the clerk and said (after the fact) "don't go near my dog. He bites"

Because of my medical challenges I work with a fully trained service dog. Poorly or unofficially trained dogs misrepresent the purpose/goal of a well trained service animal, diluting the community perception of these terrific dogs. Please accept my support for H.2277 and prevent fraudulent pets. Thank you, JSC

Please make this happen. I see too many dogs with fake vests that are obviously NOT service dogs.
