This accident was unnecessary. Update the lifts and policy!

We just finished Eldorables and my 4 year old had a great experience but we won’t be returning unless these issues are remedied.

It’s surprising that a petition must be circulated to stop this negligence. Shame on you Eldora.

I am a grandparent who has lived here my whole life and skied as a child. My dad was a ski instructor. I clearly understand and agree with the concerns of these parents. I want to see all of their requests honored and implemented.

The current policies does not hold child safety as top priority. As a family with a child reaching lessons age next year we hope to see a change.

Please keep our kids safe. 6 year olds should not be riding lifts by themselves. We will not use Eldora ski school again until things change.

Both my daughters just finished 6 weeks of lessons in the Trek program. My 7 year old daughter informed me that she has ridden the Alpenglow lift by herself without the bar down.

So I guess eldora doesn’t make sure kids get on the lift ok? Where we ski the lift attendentants help and pull the kids on. No safety bar? Really? We clearly don’t ski at eldora.

It is absolutely inexcusable that Eldora would allow children that young to ride a lift unaccompanied. Even with a bar, kids that young simply aren’t big enough to ensure their own safety in that scenario. This is about one thing as far as Eldora is concerned, pure and simple — money — and it’s appalling.

Hi all, my name is Sam Bass, and I’m the marketing director at Eldora. I've made similar replies elsewhere, so please forgive my repetition. My own children have grown up in Eldora's ski programs, and we've always called the mountain home, since long before I took a job here. Eldora is proud to be a family-friendly mountain and we take safety very seriously. As a result of Sunday’s incident, we are reviewing all of our policies and procedures related to children on lifts. Sunday’s incident continues to be under investigation and our thoughts and prayers are with the family for a speedy recovery. If you are interested, we encourage you to visit the National Ski Area Association’s website, http://KidsOnLifts.org, to learn more about safety for children on lifts. Thank you for your voicing your concerns, and please be assured that the safety of all of our guests is our top priority. Sincerely, Sam

I have two young children that I have been wanting to enroll in Eldorables, but my family will not participate until these policies are updated. Further, we will be warning other parents who show interest in this program until the risk is reduced by changing the policies. Thank you.

Had a similar experience as I watched my then, 5 year old fall off the chair right after loading during a lesson. Thankfully I was watching, yelling and other adults were yelling as the next chair stopped right before hitting my child in the head.

As a current and past eldora ski school parent, Sunday’s tragic and preventable accident sent a dew shock wave through me. I know skiing is dangerous, but I have four kids and would not have let any of them regardless of height or temperament ride a lift alone with no lap bar. This must be changed immediately.
