I believe that after sophomore year a student has an idea of what he or she wants to do as a career. If that career requires complex math like algebra 2 then they should be allowed to choose it for their interest as an elective, but as for a student who's career in mind does not require complex mathematics then they shouldn't be forced to take a class in which they will have no interest in but instead be completely stressed out over something they will most likely never again use in their adult life. Therefore students after sophomore year should have a choice of whether or not they want to take algebra 2 or any other high leveled math subject depending on their career interests.
