The lax penalties for animal cruelty must stop. It is proven that animal cruelty is just the beginning for these sociopaths and they move on to people with their sick deeds. Please, make animal cruelty a class 5 felony.

We must enforce harsher sentencing in animal cruelty and abuse cases. The punishment is not relational to the crime committed and these criminals famously escalate to human murder very quickly. Please protect the animals and people of this great state by putting these monsters away for years and not months.

The current laws are a f*cking JOKE!! Animal abusers WILL DO THE SAME THING AGAIN AS SOON AS THEY GET THE CHANCE. i wouldn't trust an animal abuser as far as i can chuck him. not after a brief stint in jail and not after any amount of counseling. NOTHING will change unless, and until, the punishment fits the crime and the laws change to include not only harsher, longer punishments for these crimes, but also a mandatory national registry of animals abusers. make it so this heinousness shows up on EVERY BACKGROUND CHECK. you can tell everything you need to know about a person by the way they mistreat animals. and these crimes will keep happening under the current laws unless we change them.

Animals are helpless victims to torture by people who should either be in a mental institute, or in prison, either way, these kinds of mentally deranged people need to be taken off the streets for good, in order to protect animals, and possible people. It has been proven that many serial killers started out by torturing and killing animals. We NEED this type of justice and protection for those who cannot defend themselves from these types of people!

Cruelty to other creatures is just as bad as cruelty to other human beings. People who get pleasure from hurting other beings have something seriously wrong with them. My guess is they are beyond help when they commit horrible abuse on another being. Regardless, they need to be off the streets and locked up where they can't harm others and retrained, if possible, and given psychiatric care and evaluation.
