The council has a duty of care to all members of the public, be they pedestrians of any age, or drivers. A crossing is imperative.

I believe St Peters primary also lobbied for speed humps or restrictions but were told as the road is an A road it was not possible as this would restrict emergency vehicles. This would surely be nonsensical as speeding traffic near schools is going to eventually and tragically result in an emergency vehicle to deal with a serious accident involving one or more of our Chailey children.

I think the speed limit should also be dropped to 30mph, and also outside the primary school as well - 40mph traffic, feet from a playground, is sheer lunacy.

This is a dangerous stretch of road where many children have to cross to get to school. A safe crossing is essential.

This crossing is urgently needed. The road is fast & dangerous for children to cross, its only a matter of time before there is a more serious accident.
