Because of the following below and many other benefits as well. In 2015 our 7000 patrons coming through Charlton spent $2,100,000! In 2016 our 9000 patrons will spend over $2,700,000! Over five years Charlton business’s will generate over $10,000,000! ▪ Direct purchase of goods and service from Charlton local businesses to run event. ▪Partner with local clubs and service groups to create ‘community credit’ distribution model.

If the festival doesn't go ahead the local council are robbing the local community, organisations, and business' of potential growth for their town. It's a shame to see such a beautiful festival not go ahead.

It seems the locals really need this to go ahead. I would hate to see beurocracy strip a struggling community of 2.1 million dollars of outside money.

So shortsighted and using the DDW to do the dirty work of those in office who suffer from myopia is dirty. The people want the festival and the Buloke Shire council was elected to work for the people not their own agendas ... shame!!

I've been heading to Maitreya for years and the Wooroonook site is easily the best. I hope the Shire council reconsiders its decision to refuse this year's planning permit application for the sake of those attending and the local community.
