Please reconsider keeping the sibling program for the language immersion! We have a son in the Spanish program now and toddler at home, that we are planning on placing in it as well. We have literally chosen not to move because it is so important to us that our kids have this opportunity...and we were told our youngest would have a guaranteed spot! Please don't do away with sibling spots!!!

Sibling preference needs to stay. This is a lifelong culture and language for these kids. If siblings are all learning then the language is much more likely to continue for years. Without that, I fear these kids will lose all those years of learning Chinese. We have cousins at JP Stewart and having cousins that speak Chinese was also a motivating factor for us to join the immersion program. It only makes sense to keep sibling preference. I have kids at 5 different schools and it is very difficult. If my younger kids ended up not getting into the immersion program at our school I'm not sure I could continue to make it work. These kids need all the support they can get to learn the language and also really blossom in the language. What better way to do that than have a sibling or two at home speaking the same language.

Please change it back. I get that students in boundaries should have some priority, but then why everyone else outside boundaries in the same lottery. That is just ridiculous. I currently have two in the program, and am so worried about what to do if my other two do not get in.

I've been in this program for 15yrs. All 5 of my children deserve the chance WE and THEY were promised. Maybe we should look at discontinuing allowing those who move out of boundaries in the school! My opinion you choose to move you choose to forfeit the program! ????

I am a teacher in the immersion program and also have siblings whose children are in the program. I truly think that the commitment to an immersion program requires the whole family to make it as successful as possible for all children in the family.

I want all to have an opportunity to be in the immersion program. However, with this policy-as a parent-how am I supposed to put time and energy into 2 separate schools and be able to pick up/drop off at the same time in 2 different locations? This will be a huge burden for families if we are torn between schools. Even within the same school-my younger kids will be heart-broken if they can't learn another language like their siblings. This second language has become a part of our family culture. I hope this program widens so more families can be a part of it. It is an amazing program.

Why upset so many families that were counting on the original promise?

What is the reasoning behind this? It seems that having all of you children in the program would be very beneficial to the entire family.

I have had four children go through the immersion program. I have one more to enter the program next year!

Please do not discontinue this opportunity of language study for the siblings of our grandchildren. It's a great program which very much involves the entire family. The younger children have picked up some words and are looking forward to continuing along with siblings.

Seems to be in the best interest of the student to keep all families immersed in the program.

We have two in the program, and two more to go. Please keep preferential treatment for the admittance of siblings for children already in the program. It is the reason we moved here and enrolled our first two in the program.

No better way for the kids to learn the language than to be able to practice with their siblings

My daughter is the first group of French immersion students and we are very invested in the immersion program. I also have a 5th grader and second grader in the program. I have one more child who will start kindergarten in 2017. I would be very unhappy and disappointed if there was a problem getting him in to French immersion. We have shown great dedication and support to this program, and hope to receive the same in return. Please do not change the rules about siblings getting right in to immersion.

Please keep sibling preference for immersion programs. Three of my four children are in the Spanish program. Being together not only helps my younger children with the work but also my older children practice the language. As a family we are committed to this program and understand the challenges that come with the program, because our other children have been through them. Thanks
