Importance of maintaining pharmacy services in our Blendon and Penhill area

There is information to hand stating that Compact Pharmacy of Blendon Road is scheduled to close by the end of October or sooner. This is mainly as a consequence of mismanagement in the last decade by a company that is shortly going to go into liquidation. The pharmacy operated originally until 1961 and then became a drug store until 1984, later reverting back to being a pharmacy from 1984 to the present date.
Persons residing in the Blendon and Penhill ward are already being troubled by the administrative entity as they are being refused and are being told to go elsewhere. This is clearly not the best approach for our community as there is always an important need to pharmacy services in our area. There are clearly no pharmacies within the immediate vicinity, and the present operator is not prepared to provide any enhanced services that the community clearly needs which will of course include additional services that are being moved from surgeries into pharmacies. It is therefore important to let your local councillors know about the desire to have a pharmacy within our Blendon and Penhill ward. Therefore, it is important for you (and your family members) to sign the petition so as to ensure that these services are provided to the community for now and for the future.
The proposal will be to forward the petition to the local councillor Nick O’Hare who has been updated of the situation.
