Maintain the integrity of the LACCD Child Development Lab Schools

The West Los Angeles Child Development center was the reason I was able to return to school, I was a stay-at-home mom to my son who was one at the time, the center made it easier for me to return to school because I was able to have my son on campus with me this allowed me to focus on my studies, because of this program I was able to graduate from West LA college with honors.

The child Development center has provided so much help to the students and faculty many parents can not find quality child car and elac provides that family care It is very important to keep the care for our faculty and students.

Our campus community deserves quality care, instruction, and support. Too often, child care is seen as simply placing a child in a safe box, with no regard for the fact that a child needs and desires an environment that stimulates learning and social development.

Teachers are just as important as doctors!!!

I am one graduated student that was major in child development and the west Los Angeles child development center help me to prepare to become a preschool teacher and I would not be able to do it without all the help from my mentors teacher Amy Bough and the great resources and help from the director Katy Kelley.

High quality Early Childhood Education requires higher qualifications. The lab schools and teachers are role models to our future teachers it is important that we keep these qualified teachers with the pay that all educators deserve!

This center is awesome, i wish i was a kid all over again!!!

The WLAC CDC is the foundation to student teachers and children. This is an impeccable lab school that offers future teachers an opportunity to train, learn, and grow to the teacher they aspire to be. Children are challenged to learn and master skill sets in social emotional development, conflict negotiation, gross and fine motor skills, cognitive development and receptive and expressive language, while having a nurturing and safe environment.

My daughter and myself would not be in school with out the WLAC CDC please don't make any changes to our program and change our life!

Through out my years working at the WLAC CDC i have seen how it served and continues to serve families, aspiring student teachers, and young children grow and develop. This center is the vessel in offering parents exceptional training, offering staff professional development , and most importantly offering children a safe and nurturing environment where they practice and exercise all the developmental domains so they can exceed and become ready for their academic and social development success.

The childcare center at Los Angeles Mission College was a true blessing for my family!! The program and staff gave my daughter a positive first school experience that she still talks about till this day (4 years later).

As a parenting student the facilities are a big asset to students like myself making the transition to coming back or already attending college possible

I was the original director of LACC's Child Center. It is a high quality developmental program serving adults and children due primarily to its top caliber faculty. It deserves to be supported.

I had to get clear about the function of our college Child Development Centers myself. Yes, they do provide day care services for our student parents, but they also provide training for students of child development, many of whom go on to care for children in Day Care Centers in our communities (as well as to higher education in Child Development, etc.). Would you not want your children's caretakers to be taught and given hands on training by faculty with advanced education?

Mantaining quality childcare, it is essential for the success for the young children. The children have the opportunity to build their skills to reach their potential.

I 100% oppose the idea of replacing our faculty with classified staff. That’s a horrible idea! These faculty members were hired based on their expertise in the content area and if they are on a tenure track or are tenured, they would lose that status. What the Hell is happening to education in America? This trend is prevalent across the United States and it is very scary.
