Keeping Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) independent from other professions helps ensure the highest level of mental health care is provided to Texans, offers the best oversight of care, and reduce confusion regarding scope of practice for both clients and professionals. Any minimal cost savings do not outweigh the damage that would be caused by this consolidation.

Please keep the Psychologist Board independent from other professions. To merge them confuses the public and may complicate our licensing process.

Removal of Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) from consolidation (SB 611) helps ensure the highest level of mental health care to Texans and the best oversight of care. Any misperceptions about nominal cost savings by consolidating boards is short sighted and just puts the public at risk .

Please keep the psychology board independent of the master's level boards so that doctoral level psychologists are making decisions for other doctoral level psychologists.

I am opposed to item 4 of the Sunset Advisory Commission staff report. We urge the Sunset Advisory Commission to remove the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) from the proposed licensing board consolidation in [Senate Bill 611]. TSBEP is currently a well-run agency. In consolidating the board into BHEC, psychologists will no longer have authority to regulate the field of psychology.

Diluting the focus of the TSBEP with other disciplines who have different training and functions than Psychologists will negatively impact both the public and practitioners.

Psychologists should continue to be supervised by TSBEP due to differences in roles and responsibilities compared with other disciplines.
