My daughter who has Autism is attending mainstream school this year and has many areas of difficulties, which is worrying when your child is out of their parents care.Every child should get the best start in their education so individuals can reach their full potential with been giving the level of support children with autism need. They need small classes and a safe environment to come to everyday and parents should be able to sent there child to the school that's appropriate of ones needs.Mainstream have to be more equipped and take into account every child with autism has different needs and difficulties.Time and patience and support and for individuals to understand the Child needs.Help and support children with autism and give them the support that's needed in education don't make promises that can't be delivered. Our children matter!

From what I see even specialist units are under resourced and failing our kids.

My 12 year old has suffered severely due to a lack of challenge in education. Sometimes a lack of understanding whilst this is improving the resources are still pretty inedequate. I do feel for teachers but when your fighting the education system for 4 years to get the rights. Those rights talked about in the United Nations convention for the rights of a child. It is pretty frustrating, as a parent trying to stave of my sons depression and keep him positive in a world which is so negative for him it can be tough.
Could go on forever but won't.

Something seriously needs to be done to help these children appropriately in the primary years and teachers are in desperate need of proper training in teaching ASD kids the way THEY learn and not forcing children to learn they way they teach

I am a grand parent of an autistic child, and I know that most teachers don't have the knowledge to deal with them.
