All schools need a better understanding and dedicated staff to help and support special needs children.

My son is fortunate enough to be well supported in an asd specific base at a mainstream school..this should be available for any child that needs it.Sadly many kids are being failed by the system.

I just hope the Education authorities can afford to provide the extra one-to-one help that is needed.

My nephew has autism and I think there should be more help available with an understanding of autistic children especially in school instead of being labeled things such as a problem child or the parents being labeled unfit or bad parenting!

Its failing my nephew this very min. Shocking that a 10 year old is only allowed into school for an hour n 45 mins per day.

Teachers in mainstream school have no appropriate autism training and punish them when they don't fit in or blame them because they can't explain 'what happened'.

Education is letting our children down, they need to put more effort into teaching our children the way that THEY learn

My son is under investigation for asd he is in nursery and I find there isn't enough support for him there, as much as they are great it worry's me that when he goes to main stream will he get the support needed, if he needs it. I have been adviced he will , but???

Now having to home educate my son due to ISP not being enforceable. It's all very well having a piece of paper with recommendations, but if teacher's don't follow advice from Paediatricians and Educational Psychologists, there is noone to say they must, especially when Head Teachers aren't following ISP and Education Officers aren't interested in complaints.

I am founder and chair of the charity Autism Rocks ( Fife ) and we support 966 families so far and a massive percentage of those families have major issues with mainstream schools. Lack of support and training given to teachers and PSA .
