I agree wholeheartedly that more ASD specific resourcing, knowledge and schooling is required for our children. My son has been excluded historically and is currently part time when there is no reason he cannot be full time. Sort out the education system to support, encourage and enhance them rather than belittling, ostrisizing and affecting them emotionally and mentally.

Kids who have special needs sometimes have very complex needs and require more support than other kids. It's so unfair they do not get the support they require to learn. They could get lost in the system. They need a voice, extra support and assistance when required.there life is hard enough withoutbeing lost in school aswell.we need to speak out now to help these kids.

So sad what they are doing to ALL children. Everyone suffers in mainstreaming.

General education teachers don't know how to teach nor cope with children with autism. Plus the mainstream setting is to much for some children to cope with in general.

It is a disgrace the way mainstream schools lack the experience and knowledge to deal with children who have autism. Even when funding is available for 1:1 support it is not given approriately and staff are certainly not trained to deal with it. This is a serious issue I have come across as a parent and professionally and it needs to be addressed !

Public school cannot manage our kids who learn different, have moderate-severe sensory needs and behaviors. What I've seen my friends go through trying to get an appropriate, non-public placement is disgraceful. These counties have dragged their names through the mud over and over and it will reveal itself. The truth always surfaces. These are children's lives. This is unacceptable.

My son has been diagnosed with autism and I am proud of how his school is handling him with help from staff at the ASD Base. I am shocked about the stories I hear about treatment of children in other schools!
