My child is very unhappy and has been treated very badly by a member of SLT on a number of occasions. Year 11 forced to do exams she doesn't want or need. No P.E for months, constant disruption to timetable, no consideration for anything other than the school statistics. Thank goodness there are some fabulous teachers there. Sadly 2 of these are leaving this week :(

Today the Bournemouth Echo ran a story that has clearly come off the back of this petition. On the one hand this is supportive and we are thankful. However, on the other, the "spin" has gone from a clear Duty of Care/Safeguarding matter and one of basic human support for all children, to one of statistics, comparisons and discipline again. Only the true stakeholders (parents, children, teachers) should voice their opinion and we await an open forum where all can speak with confidence and no fear. Open petitions like this are the only true way the "real" voice can be heard without such fear. Unlike others and their PR "spin" (who shall remain unnamed), we welcome comments of support for the school on this petition as there are elements that are progressive. Comments however must focus on the motion raised which is the Duty of Care to the children and their safeguarding as detailed. This is where the focus should lie and we should not delineate from it. Many voices are never heard but those that are willing to speak up should be supported. This petition will continue in the best interests of those concerned.

The school is like a Facist dictatorship. The kids have no individuality, freedom or rights; teachers are leaving and lessons are not being taught. The A-Level grades were absolutely shocking, but Magna neglects to mention this and lies about their brilliance. Kids are bullied by teachers, teachers and are bullied by senior staff, so it's no wonder that teacher turnover is so high.

As a current member of the Sixth Form, I have seen many changes implimented in such a short amount of time. I've been there through the transition stages, and as an insider; I can tell you now there is a lot that needs improving- however, the school is good on so many levels. One positive I will enforce is the standard of teaching in the sixth form. Yes, there is major staffing issues, but if you speak to any member of the sixth form (mainly Year 13) they will argue that the teaching they receive is superb! All of my teachers this year are new members of the academy and they have done so much for me, I couldn't thank them enough for all the time and effort they've put in- specially certain ones that I will not mention. Around 3/4 of the people in the sixth form believe their tutors have their best interests at heart. This is something again, I can agree on. My tutor is fantastic in what they do (pronoun not mentioned) and have a passion for helping their students- no matter what their issue is- so thank you for that! The opinion of the leadership of the sixth form has provided a mixed response. Personally, the amount of changes that have been brought in have started a lot of my fellow students- causing them to act out. I believe that these changes are put in to help us- not punish us (even though it does feel like it sometimes). Now that we have a Director of Sixth Form; things seem to be more orderly than before when we only had a Head of Sixth Form. She is doing an absolutely fantastic job in the handling of the Sixth Form, and with more of an input over time; the sixth form will be of an excellent standard. One thing that does need sorting out however, is the motivation and happiness of the sixth form students.

I feel that by the SLT putting an ofsted sign up outside the school , just makes a mockery of the concerns of the hundred or more parent, carers, students who are going through hell at the hands of these people. They have done this to prove a point but all it really shows is their lack of care and respect for all those who have very real concerns about the SLT in this school. It doesn't prove that the SLT are any good it just proves that they are in the wrong, they are hiding behind a screen which portraits nothing, and they have not wanted to listen to or act upon the concerns of many voices, which speak with unity for the good of our children.

Why is there an open petition advocating Free Speech for views in this way about this school? Because children, parents, and teachers alike at thus school are too scared and lack confidence in the channels supposedly "available." They clearly do not work and we hope this, as sad as many elements are, is a positive push for fundamental change.

David M's "son" goes to school at Magna? Hmm, Me smells a rat! or could it be MR Tutt - didnt Mr Tutt come from the Slough region? He seems to know a hell of a lot about the school.

This school could be amazing and is getting results but it is run like a detention centre and children live in fear of inconsistant sanctions which can be given for the slightest thing and often disproportionate to the action. The principle seems not to listen to his senior leadership, parents or the children. in my opinion this school is starting to forget that pastoral care is just as important as targets.

I think this school needs investigating. How can it be right that the children and many of the teachers are in a constant state of fear. It only takes the slightest thing, often not even the child's fault, ie. told to do something/go somewhere by another teacher), and if spotted by the roaming (sharks) SLT all guns are set to blazing straight away without the child even being given the opportunity to explain. SLT routinely humiliate and bully the children - getting right up in their faces shouting, finger pointing and threatening isolation, detention, and even exclusion - often over nothing (or perhaps they are sadistic and power-mad taking actual pleasure in making children cry) !! This is nothing short of abuse. I will be moving my two youngest children next year and my daughter is counting the days to finish 6th form as life is hell for 6th formers there. They are all cramped into a windowless room with slow or broken computers and absolutely no freedoms or benefits as is common in other more caring schools. Magna Academy is outstanding alright - IN ALL THE WORST WAYS!

Once again. Please note. This petition was set up as an open forum petition to gain support for the motion that the Duty of Care and safeguarding of the children at Magna Academy is poor and needs addressing. What has become clear is that there is an abundance of concern which is shared by a wide range of stakeholders which includes the children, parents, carers, AND teachers. It is therefore not respectful to the many for anyone to start comparing statistics on schools. Please be respectful to the issues that have been raised that are not in any way about statistics.

Young person you are highly valued and a very important part of society. Don't let a few small minded bullies ruin your life. Stay stong, take comfort in adults and teachers you trust and never ever give up. School is for a short while , you have the rest of your life ahead of you and you can achieve anything good you set your mind too. Keep strong and calm.

I know many of the children that go to magna. I have heard their stories and those told by their parents similar to yours. One person can't even leave their house due to a disorder that is fully recognised by the doctors yet not supported by the school. Take comfort that the caring adults will support you and take strength from those teachers who do care. Dont give up and keep strong school is a short part of life and things will get better

"Dave" only teachers make corrections for people grammar mistakes.... Take a good look at all these genuine concerns and search your brain or heart if you have either and realise there is a massive problem at magna and parents want solutions for their childrens sake.
