No point Dorset Grebe. The key phrase was 'value added' but you obviously do not understand this concept based upon your last comment. Anyway it's been good engaging in a 'sort' of conversation with you.

Its an utter disgrace that children are at magna school supposedly in a safe environment with supposedly caring staff in a responsible position, yet certain staff are screaming at and treating the pupils with such disrespect and disregard, these members of staff do not appear fit to be in such a responsible position of trust. They have totally CRUSHED the word TRUST for many or may i stress most ( including the 6th formers) of the students. Disgraceful that the SLT are behaving such a way then putting their heads in the sand. !!!!!!!!

An accidental like for an unacceptable point of view which seems to be coming from a very closed minded , cold, uncaring mr martins, who sounds like he knows the SLT very very well.... Anyone who screams at children and who is in the responsible position of caring for them should be STRUCK OFF

This is a disgraceful situation that the children are facing. lets hope this is made public knowledge so that a change can be made to get the management team responsible for the bullying OUT of the school so that the children and hood teachers csn enjoy school properly and normally

In that case, David Martins, maybe you could tell us all what those 2015 value added scores are, including Magna's, as you have researched this. And perhaps you could explain why other schools with allegedly lower value added scores have been able to substantially improve the results of pupils from the same feeder schools whilst Magna has just marked time or achieved lower results?

There are very concerned children as well as parents who are very worried about what is going on at magna. Over 100 people cant be wrong. So mr martin who believes the school is so good needs to take a reality check. Yes some of the younger teachers are wonderful. They shine within the school and the children can see that and know who they can trust. Some of the good teschers have left due to being bullied and not allowed to speak up for fear of dismissal. But there are MOST DEFINITELY certain teachers who are bullies and when they are filmed behaving like this it will be them being taken to court, struck off the teaching register and if a child dies they will be jailed for manslaughter... Also if you want to tslk about achievements why not tell everyone how magna teachers are giving students the answers to help them get higher grades just to boost the schools grades... Isnt that called cheating and fixing a sackable offense for the management who instill this

You are right Dorset Grebe you have done minimal research. Try looking at the value added scores for the schools you mention compared with Magna, this tells you the level of progress made by the students based on their prior attainment, mostly low attainment I might add, due to the inadequate performance of most of the feeder schools in the area.

@David Martin, i can see why you are for the school, you are very patronising , may be you need to slow down, seeing you say your child goes to that school and you live in Slough. If you have to revert to lying then please at least make it plausible.

I attend Magna so I have a first-hand experience of the school. To all those fixating on the 'outstanding' given to the school, remember there are many schools over the country that have been given this rating and do not deserve it. Schools, especially this one, fool inspectors by putting on a façade by hiding away certain students, and telling student what to say about the school, and even going as far as increasing things like student support up until ofsted, and then as soon as getting their outstanding drastically reducing it. The whole school, has become unbearable for many and the lack of respect shown to both students and some teachers is shocking; those needing help are often overlooked and students get shouted out for the smallest of infractions if one of the worse members of slt are around to witness it. it is a shameful institution. Over the last term I have heard the amount of suicide ‘jokes’ skyrocket, people are not happy here. The thing that makes it even more obvious that things need to change is that I have asked many teachers what they think and many agree with the sentiments of the students and parents. I was even told by a member of staff that it’s a shame that “people feel too scared to voice their opinions for fear of being punished.” A supply teacher that had been there for at most a day or 2 had even noticed what it’s actually like for students and teachers at the school and said that it’s a bit “Nazi Germany-ish.” School is meant to be a place of learning and people should feel happy and safe but instead people are scared and bullied by teachers (well slt mostly) into keeping quiet - it's basically a prison. The entire SLT needs to be investigated and most need to be replaced, the school needs to be on special measures or the worst could happen. You might think 'it's only school, discipline is good', but this has gone too far to the point of being a culture of fear and is, quite frankly, disgusting. keeping myself anonymous fo

Hmmm David Martins. I've taken your advice and done some 'minimal research' into what you have claimed. 2015 CGSE results (source DfE): 5 A*-C E&M Magna 57% (up 1% from 2014), Poole High 54% (up 9%!!) - not bad for an RI school, St Edwards 73% (up 17%!!!). Magna A*-C Maths 70% (no improvement), Magna A*-C English 74% (down 2%!!!). What happened to Magna's prime subjects? At best they are flatlining. Also 22 teachers have left the school in 6 months - why? This will not help their teaching and learning. 100 signatures petitioning about bullying. Is this really an 'Outstanding' school? Remember when Magna claim they have made substantial progress, Ashdown in its final year was graded 'Good' by Ofsted. Food for thought?

Long commute for your son each day. I think you have the wrong school this is in dorset no where near to Slough. Good on you if your son commutes from Slough and gets here on time otherwise a lot of detentions for him.

@David martin. Your experience has been good, that's great however I can show you EVIDENCE that it is not that way for everyone. You sound like some of the small minded teachers I have recently dealt with. Some of the teachers ate fantastic however some are nothing more than bullies. I can't say much as an internal investigation is going on at the moment regarding an incident. We all have our own experiences.

I started this school when it was ashdown and left in year 10 when it was magna. I thought my time there was awfull and that was 2 years ago, it seems to have got a lot worse. If I hadn't of moved from this school I honestly don't think I would be alive right now. I suffered from various mental health problems, including server depression and suicidal thoughts. Even though I had done many suicide attempts and self harmed on a regular basis they still treated me like crap. So bad infact when I self harmed they shouted at me telling me I was an attention seeker when in fact I didn't want to be alive anymore. I used to go in icolation everyday because I couldn't wear PE uniform because of my self harm, but of course they didn't understand that. I used to have a new supply teacher for mostly every lesson when they knew I couldn't deal with change, I walked out many times and they didn't even know it, my mum used to find me in a heap on the floor broken down, when she rang the school they told her I was happy in lessons when actually I was on the side of the road crying. The last straw for me was when mr tutt screamed in my face telling me I needed to grow up and stop attention seeking. He then lifted up my jumper to see if my skirt was rolled up.. After much shouting and screaming I was excluded, for what? Being mentally unwell and having learning difficulties? 2 days after I did my final suicide attempt because of this school, because of how bad they treated me and ended up in a mental hospital hundreds of miles away from home. But of course they didn't care, because once again another ill child is out of there hands! My mum asked for my school records after leaving and found dozens of letters to teachers saying I was an attention seeker and to ignore my problems, they used to slag me off in emails because of my self harm, it's awful. After all this I came out of a medical school with B & C grade GCSE's even though I missed most of year 9&10 in hospital. And if you don

i go to this school, my Mum has asked me not to use my name as she doesnt want me picked on, The rules are to extreme for any "normal" teen to follow, if you ask for help you get told to shut up, no excuses means we can often not ask questions or explain ourselves, most of the teachers who are OK tend to leave as they also feel the rules are to much, people get into trouble for trying to help other pupils especially new ones who didnt know where they where going, my Mum wants me to move to poole high, only thing keeping me here is my friends and a hand full of nice teachers. I hope things change as i have seen some pretty horrid stuff like kids being shouted at and in tears or almost. Please do something to help us, feeling depressed thinking of all the homework we will probably get in the holidays.
