A little freedom mixed with a decent amount of discipline and a greater amount of respect would go along way to making magna "outstanding " ...
At the moment magna is "outstanding " for the SLT being top professional idiots.....
And to think I'm on my lunch break worrying about my kids school and future.... Do to a few nob heads......!

Students are treated like numbers rather than individuals with opinions. It is all about targets, assessments and attainment. The petty rules put on students creates an atmosphere of fear where detentions for not having the right length ruler are handed out like smarties. Regulations like this are not teaching the students to express themselves, have confidence and give them tools to contribute positively to the school.

Used to work there, was so fundamentally against their principles that I resigned without another job to go to. Found something very quickly at another local school with happy and successful children, parents and staff. Have now moved from Poole to Wimborne so that my son is not in the Ocean / Magna catchment. It's the only school I've worked in during my 21 years as a teacher that I wouldn't send my own child to.

I've noticed a couple of comments on here praising Miss Conway for the way she's running the sixth form. That raises my suspicions straight away - Miss Conway, is that you!? It's well known that she is just like the male SLT. She has been known to stand in front of sixth formers and shout 'You're all thick'. Now how is that right? The sixth form is terrible at the school, and certain subjects like IT are a joke. I know many students had to switch to something else midway through because they didn't have a teacher and they were months behind on the work. Not quite sure where the millions went for the technology suite as it certainly wasn't on computers of any quality. I know kids who have to go in and sit all day long in a cramped area doing nothing until last lesson without any space to work (or a computer that's fast enough, or indeed, working at all). Not even a proper library for study! Also morale is low because they have they have none of the freedoms common in other schools at sixth form stage - Magna does not treat them with any level of trust or respect. To top it all these young people are shouted and screamed at just like the younger children. So for the record Miss Conway, you need to up your game because at the moment, the vast majority of students don't think you're doing a good job at all!

I'm in yr 11 and 15 yet was made to write lines in detention like a six year old. Just because I left an item out of my pencil case! It made me feel like a baby and didn't teach me any lesson. It's just made me hate the school even more. If they are going to put us in detention why not make us do homework or something constructive. Plus the "teacher " who was present during the detention was behaving like he was hitlers twin brother . Made me hate him even more

Rights Respecting School ???? Really??
Children have a right to be educated regardless of what they wear or what they havd in their pencil case .
What about parents /carers on low income?
Why exclude these children then said out penalty letters about low attendance?
What about the Right to be respected and a Right to be heard ?
Equalty?
Every pupil learns differently and every pupil has a different home life..just like the staff .However if the pupil is experiencing a difficult ,emotional time they are shouted and bullied at then put in isolation. If the staff have a bad day it seems they can use their frustrations out verbally on the pupils.
You (staff) are there as a role model to educate and show empathy..To build trust with so these pupils csn openly talk to you.
Pethaps you should reflect back on your own experiences of school or even treat your pupils the way you would want your own children treated.
Suggest you look back at your RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL POLICY it works both ways !

Ive been living in poole all my life and i have brought my family up here. I have brought them all up to be hard working honest people.
Yet my daughter tells me my granddaughter has been self harming due a teacher picking on her at school.
When my daughter confronted the school they totally blammed my granddaughter for being rude, well shes not, and they denied the teacher was picking on her. Its a weekly thing and it's getting to breaking point for my granddaughter.
She's having counselling to help her cope with the attitude of this teacher, but this should not be happening in this day and age. I'm 72 and i am so upset for my whole family as it's effecting us all.
If it continues we will remove my granddaughter and i will personally take this individual teacher to court for child abuse and wilful negligence

Not being funny the school will tell the echo a load of rubbish on how magna plan to make students feel comfortable in their community and how they say they will stop bullying yet this morning in assembly in front 6 different year groups that's what? 10 different tutors aswell a year 7
Boy went to the front infront of everyone bare in mind he is quite a big lad to get his tutor prize to share and one of the members of SLT says to him "..... Remember there to share not all for yourself" implying his weight and yet he was made to sit back down while all the students laugh and giggle. Disgusting. How do you expect any student to work in school while getting bullied and then feeling suicidal? I thought we were raising the awareness of bullying not bloody starting it!

I'm an x teacher from this school and have been in the middle of the chaos at magna. You will never win , as the SLT are corrupt and have a way of getting what they want , their way, no matter what.
I wish you all good luck, but they broke me and some of my colleagues. Its not worth the effort as they are total liers and are totally corrupt individuals... But good luck anyway!!!!

I must sing the praises of the really hard working teachers in magna.... And they know who they are.... As they are the ones in which the children place their trust. They are the ones that are really getting the children excited about education and learning. Thank you sincerely.
To those who are "teachers" at magna but are not setting professional nor humanistic standards.... You know who you are as no one likes nor trusts you...... You will be caught out ...... And then everyone will have to acknowledge that your leadership skills are worthless and your methods of reforming are stone age and diabolical.
When you are proven to be misusing your credentials i hope you are all struck off the teachers register for such misconduct on your part and your part alone.
Of course children need discipline, but not at the hands of such unprofessional individuals as yourselves. I've seen first hand this disgraceful behaviour by certain "leaders" in magna..... Not only do they NOT lead with respect they don't instill any drive nor encouragement for the students to want to learn. It appears to be having the opposite effect on the children.

As a year 7 student at Magna, I'm horrified at how they treat us. They shout in our faces like we are soldiers out of line. I was shown around the school and told by them it was amazing and I thought an "OUTSTANDING" ofsted backed it all up. If you asked my head of year and teachers from my previous school they would describe me as an outgoing, confident, determined and helpful girl, it said so in my previous school reports. However if you asked the teachers at Magna they wouldn't describe me as confident, because now I'm just scared to even go to school, and so are my friends. I cry lots and have panic attacks, nothing else has changed in my life to impact this apart from me starting Magna. My mum breaks down when she sees me crying when she drops me off, she said as was so worried about me she cried all the way to work the other day. I believe some of the SLT members take all their anger out on us, even though it's not our fault they have had a bad day. I feel like they tame us like lions. I really hope someone can help make our lives at school better, because at the moment we are struggling to learn due to the high amount of stress the school put on our 11 and 12 year old shoulders.
