The packs are on their way and the tournaments will move forward as planned. I am honestly stunned by how quickly things shifted once you all chose to step up. Please keep a close eye on future announcements so we can ensure this remains a fair environment for everyone.
We, Magic:The Gathering players from Odessa, Ukraine were deprived of the opportunity of participation in prereleases of the new set “Dragon’s Maze” which were to be held in our city on April 27-28.
As it turned out, it happened due to the fact, that “Hobby World” refused sending the prerelease sets to the store located in Odessa even though it has earlier accepted the application for staging the tournament and providing with 80 sets.
According to the statement of the representative of “Hobby World”, their refusal was caused by the fact, that, supposedly, the products which were not bought from the official distributor were sold in the store.
We, Magic: The Gathering players, are inclined to believe that such gesture is undignified of the official distributor since this company has been killing the developing of Magic: The Gathering in Ukraine for a long time:
First and foremost, the prices for the booster packs are permanently getting higher, now its 4.7 euro, which is way more than in USA or in the countries of European Union.
Secondly, permanent problems with prereleases. The nearest examples:
-Return to Ravnica:
It was given only 30 prerelease sets all in all, even though it was applied for !6! prereleases. As an answer for the question of the provider "How come?" we got the following: "I'm busy". What is the use of such official distributor?
-Dragon's Maze:
And now the prerelease of Dragon’s Maze is almost buggered up.
Considering that we are Advanced level club. Such clubs in Ukraine now existing to the amount of 5, and as of the time of Return to Ravnica – only 3.
Our requirements as the community of Magic: The Gathering players are the following:
- To revoke “Hobby World” status of official distributor in Ukraine.
- To get an opportunity to play prerelease under all circumstances, even if we get our sets with a week delay.
- Price lowering at least to the European level.
- Appointment of new official distributor and organization of WPN Store Lead Ukraine
- Dismissal of persons liable for this incident.
Every single time there is a new set it is a headache. Why bother being a distributor if you cant distribute the product?

The prices here are insane compared to everyone else. Stop punishing the players because you have issues with the store owners.

Total BS. They act like they own the scene but they just kill it for everyone. Fix the supply issues already!

I was looking forward to this for weeks. Very unfair to cancel last minute without a real explanation.

Ridiculous. We just want to play our game. Odessa deserves better than this treatment from Hobby World.
