Throughout my 4 years at UVM, I, as a dancer have noticed that there were only few types of dances such as jazz, modern, african forms that are offered at UVM. Those are great but from talking to other students, they have suggested that I should explore my passion and take a step up from my dance experiences and teach other various dances such as Contemporary new school West-central African dances, Afro latin, and Dancehall/reggae. I have received a number of students being interested in these and as i wished i had the opportunity to get credits for dance classes, im taking the initiative of creating this petition to see how many people would be interested in taking dance classes such as these ones that were mentioned above. If there are enough signatures on this, i would take the step and talk to the UVm department and Dance and my other connections and with the Student voice, we can hopefully make this happen. Thank you!

I have been hearing from so many of you about the specific styles you want to see represented in our curriculum. It is clear that we have a real hunger for more diverse movement options on campus and I am currently gathering these stories to present to the department.

Seeing this much energy behind bringing new styles to our dance program is truly overwhelming. Your enthusiasm makes me feel like these classes are finally within our reach.

Freeman is an amazing dancer and we really need more variety in the dance dept. Would love to take a class like this for credit!
