We lost one house to erosion in 2009 and as the erosion accelerated we were forced to move our family house back as far as possible--110 feet almost to Ames Ave. The rate of erosion is greater than 44 feet since 2012! We have lost more than sixty feet since 2015. Perhaps the town can call on the research done by Joe Farrell and ask the Corps of Engineers and the federal government for assistance in getting things done. Nantucket needs to do this now!

Our home at 8 Maine Avenue is now what appears to be perilously close to the Atlantic. We are most interested in preserving access on Ames.

As 30 year visitors and now home owners in Madaket we share the alarm at seeing Madaket erosion of such severity.
Solutions must be identified and discussed this spring.

As long term (40 yrs) part time resident of Tristams landing I have observed the changes in Madaket.. Thank you Charlie Stott for you continued involvement. Planning is essential and a priority. The ocean waits for no man.

Preserving access to smiths point and Millie's bridge should be a high priority for the town as a historical asset as well as a safety priority. It will be much easier and less disruptive to preserve this access than react after it is destroyed

I agree with this petition as an immediate need- but it must be accompanied by addressing the entire coastal erosion issues on the South/West side of the island.
