I understand cutting costs, but switch it up a little, try every 3 years. Numbers are dwindling because we've seen the same display for like 6 years!

I too was concerned in the lack of originality each year with the display. I'm glad that actions are being taken to change things and bring the display back to its former wonder.

My grandpa used to take us every year to see the display I would like to do the same with my kids having the anticipation of what the theme was going to be not looking at the same display year after year the elves are worn out and boring after so many years makes me not even want to waste my time to go since I already know what it's going to be

This was one of my fav parts of the holidays growing up. But since it hasn't changed in years I haven't bothered to go see it even when I am at Macy's downtown. It is sad to see the traditions I had as a child disappear.

Would love to continue the tradition of the 8th floor holiday display. Have not gone back with my family once we realized it would be the same old one every year.

No reason to come downtown MPLS while home for Christmas. Come to think of it, no reason to shop Macys here in Albuquerque either. Daytons knew how to entertain starting long ago with windows, n inside story. Tradition

My family has had a day after thanksgiving tradition of going to Macy's & Santa for over 30 years. We didn't go last year & won't again unless it's changed.

Such a great part of our family history and such a lost opportunity, and lost revenue as the $300-$400 we routinely dropped on Christmas Eve now goes to their competition.

The reason we went to the downtown Dayton's was because it was magical at Christmas. Now there is no reason to go downtown. Bring back the magic!!

For the love of Christmas change the display!!!!! It's a family tradition to go. But year after year of the same makes me say bah-hum-bug and I'll ship somewhere else.

Please. Macy's (Dayton's) is a downtown institution, and forcing them to hamper creativity by regurgitating the same display is (A) not giving work to artists who could make something amazing that add to life long memories and (B) One of the many reasons they're being choked out of existence. Please continue to make this a holiday tradition worth visiting every year.

Growing up, we would always go see the 8th Floor Auditorium, have a gingerbread cookie from the bakery, and then go Christmas Dress shopping afterwards. I always will remember how fun it was and hope to continue that tradition with my children.

I would love my kids to have the excitement of the 8th floor tradition and not be bored with the same thing yearly. At least switch it every 2 years or something!
