Sign this for the cancellation of classes on Election Day, Nov. 3rd, 2020. By canceling class on Election Day, Nov. 3rd, 2020, it will increase the participation among Randolph-Macon Students, Faculty, and Staff in the 2020 Election by allowing the Randolph-Macon community to travel to their polling places and cast votes without unjust consequence from Randolph-Macon College for fulfilling their civic duty. According to U.S. Census, just under 20% of voters cited "being too busy or having conflicting work schedules" as reasons for not voting. Many students, faculty, and staff often cannot participate in voting because of school, classes, and work prevent them from traveling to their polling places; this petition would allow for them to vote. Also, Randolph-Macon would be modeling after the City of Richmond, which gives its employees the day off for voting. By having Election Day 2020 off, this would demonstrate Randolph-Macon's seriousness towards motivating and encouraging its students, faculty, and staff to vote.

PLEASE DO THIS. It is so hard to coordinate my schedule to get to the polls when I have 3 classes in a row.

Agree 100%. RMC needs to step up and let us have the day off to do our part.

My polling place is way too far to drive to after my afternoon lab. This is a simple fix for the school to make.

I STRONGLY SUPPORT THIS. I did not get to make it to the ballot this year because I live three hours away and did not want to vote in a district that is not mine.

I believe voting is important for our country and I think schools should give a day off for students to go vote.
