Massachusetts: Supporting Aftermarket Exhausts; Opposing Front Plates

I fully support this as my vehicle had an aftermarket exhaust due to no more factory available and that year had no front bracket and i received a ticket for no front plate...signed.

Its time to stop with the unnecessary laws only made up to complicate out lives and take our money

My front plate fell off my credit during the brutal winter that just past . It fell when I hit a large pothole I believe and I have received tickets for no front plate after it was not my fault .

Just got found guilty of modified exhaust on Monday. Its such a ridiculous law that i now have two more points on my license do to improving gas efficiency on my car. Thats ridiculous. Im moving to New Hampshire. Tired of paying for asshole cops to badger me for modifying my car tastefully.

I live in mass but i found this while on vacation in the bahamas.

Aftermarket exhausts can me much more durable, especially in Mass where rust and rot rule the car world. They also help us tax payers save money by being more efficient.

I agree most manufacturer exhausts will corrode out and cost over $1000 to replace for an inferior product. When the aftermarket exhaust will be made of better materials and cost half the price.

Working at a service shop I can attest to how often we see rusty and rotted exhausts here in New England and how having the choice for a more rust resistant exhaust system would be wiser for consumers and enthusiasts alike

I fully agree with the benefits of getting rid of the front plate requirement and allowing aftermarket exhausts.

I support these initiatives. It makes no sense why some people get special treatment on the road having one plate while others have to have two.

I haven't had a front plate on any of my cars for nearly 3 years now (except for when I needed an inspection) and have never been pulled once. In addition, my exhaust is pretty aggressive and I've had nothing but good compliments from all parties including our state's law enforcement members.

This bill should be passed due to the fact many of us have new cars and there is no place to mount a front license plate and no one including myself wants to drill holes in their new cars bumper.

Beyond the cost effectiveness of only using 1 plate, there is also the argument of older green plates still around. There is no logistical reason to have two plates.

There is no reason that only some vehicles that drive the same roads should have different restrictions.
