Massachusetts: Supporting Aftermarket Exhausts; Opposing Front Plates

I agree we should be aloud to improve our cars with better longer lasting materials such as stainless steel and cops dont pull you over when driving in front of you so front plates are pointless

I'll sign this just to get some form of "freedom" back from the over controlling MA legislatorship. I personally can't stand overly loud exhaust systems, so some kind of decibel rating. however that would need a rating, but that is easy to do. There is no reason for a front plate... except that's what the cops aim the lasers (it's my understanding it was the police that pushed for the front plates) They will tell you its for identification... which it is, but there is one on the back, and thats enough.

Also most factory exhausts inhibit better fuel economies because of the reauirements set forth by the DOT. Free flowing exhausts (not full blown no muffler) but better flowing exhaust systems alone promote better mpg at the cost of noise and these set ups of free flowing exhausts can still use factory catalytic converters to still fight emissions.

If we have to pay extra for a green plate in order to not have a front plate let us. Treat it like a vanity plate

Lets make a change

I support opposing the aftermarket exhaust ban mainly because I have been ticketed before for having an aftermarket exhaust even if its silent and the only reason I decided to go aftermarket is because the aftermarket option was a fraction of the cost of the non stainless OEM counterpart. Being a single father of two kids makes my spending budget tight especially when the original exhaust failed because of exposure to salt.

As someone restoring a older car, I would love to see the state go back to one plate. I also strongly disagree on trying to ban aftermarket exhaust.

Im all for it. These laws are unfair.

Mass produced stock exhaust are just that mass produced to save a penny. Why stop people from adding a more efficient system to their cars. Front plate aren't necessary. You already allow green plates to run rear only plates.
