Austrian Airlines , Swiss Air , Lufthansa decided to make a strange rule.

They make a difference between Pets Traveling to USA than other countries.

They raised the age limit of the Travelling CATS&DOGS to 16 weeks minimum age and do not respect the general rules of the entry to USA from Rabies Free Countries!

The official rules says...

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) require all dogs entering the U.S., except those arriving from certain rabies-free countries, to be immunized against rabies. Vaccinations must be completed at least 30 days before arrival in the U.S. Since puppies cannot be vaccinated against rabies before 3 months of age, puppies under 4 months old will not be admitted into the U.S. unless they are arriving from a rabies-free country.

As we can read "except those arriving from certain rabies-free countries"

Albania, Andorra, Austria, Azores, Balearic Islands, Belgium, Cabrera, Channel Islands, Corsica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Formentera, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Ibiza, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Majorca, Malta, Minorca, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway (except Svalbard), Portugal, San Marino, Spain (except Ceuta and Melilla), Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

One more:

Cats are not required to have proof of rabies vaccination for importation into the U.S!!

Besides, THEY have changed the Transport fees:

Example: FRA-LAX 300EUR old price // FRA-LAX 380EUR new price!!!

Fact is that a lot of owners do not want to give the PET in early age a Rabies Vaccination, but they want to travel in young age, as it is better for the PET, to avoid stress.

These Airlines made it easy, they just banned all Cats and Dogs under 16 weeks, no matter where they are coming from to the US!

It is also very interesting that they DO transport to Canada or South Korea (for example 12 Weeks old PETS) and having no issues with this.
