Completely agree - many LPNs are as experienced or sometimes more experienced than RNs in this province. The ones I know are willing to do more but are not allowed to do so. Change this oversight and let's help BC improve healthcare for everyone.

At my workplace the LPNs and RNs do the exact same job there is NO discrepensies other than $13/hour

Yes I agree LPNs are definitely underutilized in this province, hopefully with the new HPA legislation this will change. With an increased scope and workload we will have a solid reason to fight for higher wages due to the $13 wage gap which is the largest in Canada I believe. I also believe there is room for all kinds of nurses as well due to higher complexity and acuity and there is not enough money going into nursing programs and to the health authorities to have resources to hire more nurses instead of relying on overtime.

There is no nurse shortage, there is underutilization of LPNs. We do almost everything RNs do just don't get paid for it. Very frustrated.

Moved from alberta, very disappointed in the scope of practice for lpn's in BC, and the wage range compared to alberta!!!

The contrast between the theory and skill we are taught in school versus what we are allowed to do according to some government facilities' protocols is huge. A stark contrast and one that could very well save money if we were to invest in rewriting those protocols to reflect the new wave of LPNs' nursing abilities.

I want to work full scope! I deserve to work full scope! I paid alot of money to go to school to become a nurse and am not allowed to use all my skills.

LPN's need to be utilized in specialty areas (OR, Public Health, etc). Where the skills required are within scope).

I agree the LPNs could play a much bigger role in relieving the nursing shortage. Use us to our full potential.

although true we are not working to full scope, pay increases would have to follow. We still have not regained our 15% cutback, let alone seen a proper raise for too long. I would not be happy with more responsibilities and the current top LPN we.
