Lower Merion is behind the times and other districts when we should be at the forefront to protect our children. LMSD moves at a snail’s pace while our children suffer.

I agree there should be another pick up time, this will allow them to get more morning sleep and they will have more desire to go to school.

My daughter goes to bed at 8pm to wake up at 430am to get ready. We get no family time during the week and she is exhausted every morning.

The Board would be negligent to act otherwise in light of overwhelming and compelling evidence that this is the healthy course. All the other logistics can be worked out.

I wholeheartedly agree that high school students need a later start. I don’t have high schoolers any longer but I sure wish it went into effect when they were there. With all the late night studying I remember, they should have the opportunity to sleep later. They would be more productive.

Inadequate sleep contributes to the problems of chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, stress, tardiness, obesity, teen car accidents, poorer concentration and ultimately poorer academic performance. As a pediatrician and member of the AAP I urge you to change the school start time to after 8:30 am.

I believe it is vitally important for secondary school students to get a better nights rest and start school later

The research is pretty conclusive that later start times will benefit our students’ health and academic achievement. Please make decisions based on these findings.

7:30 start time for school is too early and scientifically proven to be unhealthy for developing children
Please change start time
