As a physical therapist, I wholeheartedly support a shift to later start times. This would support the unique sleep needs of adolescents.

With so much evidence to benefit the students health and their performance, I am confident we can solve the operational challenges for the benefit of all.

As a child neurologist, I see first hand what the early start times can lead to. Please align school start with AAP recommendations.

Early starts result in an unhealthy learning environment. Start times should not be before 8:30 AM. LM needs to follow the science, not personal preferences. This is a learning, health and safety issue. No study supports the current schedules. Let’s put the kids first and do right by them.

I encourage the school district to adjust school start times to support our children’s physical and developmental needs.

I am a child psychologist. I often see the deleterious impact of sleep deprivation and how early mornings go against teen circadian rhythms. Sleep is so critical to fighting depression and anxiety and improving school performance

It is imperative that we not exhaust another class of students. LMSD needs to implement changes for the health of our children for the upcoming school year!

It is shameful that LMSD is not more progressive in this area. While my sons have graduated and moved on, it is still so important for the next generation of children to get the sleep that they need. Their health and well-being trumps the monetary concerns. Figure it out, peeps! Do the right thing.

It's well known that lack of adequate sleep results in poor health outcomes. These outcomes are increasingly dire for young people. NO SCHOOLS SHOULD START BEFORE 9.

This is very important to me, as a healthy mind and healthy body depend on sleep. Please change the start date to be aligned with the AAP recommendations of a 8:30am start time.

It is well proven that later start times for teenagers increase productivity and reduce irritability!!

The science is clear. Lower Merion should prioritize student health and start high school later.

I would like later start times for high school students

Later school start times are imperative for high school students. In addition to biologically requiring more sleep, many students who compete in school sports, volunteer in the community and take challenging courses in school are required to stay up late to meet the demands of their days. They are urgently in need of more sleep to ensure that they are able to concentrate during school and to continue being successful students.
