This paper was horrendous and probably one of the worst papers I have ever had the misfortune to sit in my entire life (this is coming from an ex-second year undergraduate chemistry student)
AQA, were you the ones on Lidocaine? Half of the spec got missed off completely and the paper must have been 60-75% application questions. Totally different from any of the past papers I've been practising and from when I last studied it

paper was synoptic when the specification states that chem5 will be synoptic but not chem4

Every single question had me second guessing whether I had understood what was being asked of us. This was nothing like previous papers, it was hugely based on application of knowledge which seems very unfair when previous exams are based on clear/hard factual knowledge. Like many others, I don't think any amount of revision could have prepared me for today.

That was an awful paper. Wording of the questions were awkward and vague. Most of the topics didn't actually come up which was disappointing.

The paper AQA presented the Year 13s with today was unjustifiably hard. This paper didn't challenge, it set us up for failure and it's unacceptable that AQA could choose to single handedly jeopardise the future prospects of thousands of students like this - the minimum they can do is assure the nation that the grade boundaries will be low so that we may have another generation of scientists even making it to university still.

Terrible, I've done all the past papers and can usually finish a chem 4 exam within 1 and a half hours with time to check. But this paper had too many applications and little mechanisms. I have done every single paper for chemistry and this was nothing like others.

The questions were nothing like the previous TEN past papers in this current syllabus. There were many 1/2 make application questions that required too much thinking time therefore it didn't allow us to finish the paper with time to battle that last 9 marker as well as check over. The format of the paper was different, even my teamed said it looks like the new spec more. Lastly, the 9 mark last question has been seen before (of course something similar, not the same) but not only was this more difficult but usually (on previous exam papers) the question had been divided up into sections, helping us make our way through the data to them identify the compound- not just a blank page with 20 lines.

No level of revision coulda have mentally preparred me for this paper. It was absolutely shocking as to how different this paper actually was compared to a standard paper thus deserves low grade boundaries.

Exam was ridiculous. Too many application questions instead of testing the knowledge that we have spent close to a year revising for.

This paper was a joke, for students to work really hard and revise for it all to be washed away with such a bad paper is ridiculous
