I felt this was an extremely unfair exam - there was very little focus on several topic areas (notably buffer solutions and organic reagents and mechanisms) and a very large number of difficult, low-mark application questions which made no allowance for less able students who had carefully learned material in order to achieve a good grade. Timing, which for previous chem4 papers has not been challenging, was a big problem and the placement of a 9 mark question at the very end of the paper meant that lots of students will have lost a large number of marks as a result of running out of time. Personally, I'm upset and angry about this paper - as a medicine offer holder who was extremely well prepared through months of hard work for a "normal" paper, I may have permanently lost my chance for a career I very much want, through no fault of my own.

Very difficult exam. Made to rush and panic leading to many errors in first 1-4 questions

Awful exam, a huge chuck of the A2 specification was missed out. I don't think AQA really consider what this type of exam could do to our futures.

To think that i actually wanted to study chemistry at university, AQA have diminished my confidence for my other exams, i can only begin to imagine what kind of paper unit 5 will be

I felt that paper was too harsh..even the one mark questions were soo time consuming...I felt it was not right to put a 9 mark HNMR question right at the end of the paper when majority of us only had a few minutes to spare..also it was definitely really hard than the previous years which is not fair because we put hours and hours in revising yet we're not treated fairly when the exams are set then that's not right..! this is to do with our university places..please lower the grade boundaries..! Besides we're still part of the old spec so we should be treated the same way as previous years..!

This paper was appalling and all of the candidates who took that exam should see some rectification in their grades.
